Edges Counseling & Consultation LLC
"I want to stay as close on the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all kinds of things you can't see from the center… Big, undreamed-of things — the people on the edge see them first."
― Kurt Vonnegut
Learn More About Me
Welcome to EDGES, the counseling practice of Annie Doczi LPC. I am a virtual counselor. When I started my private practice in Wasilla in 2017, I named it EDGES. At the time, I intended it as an acronym for Equus Dialectics for Growing, Experiencing, and Surviving. Like many things since 2017, that changed. I discovered, sadly, that therapy with horses was not affordable for most clients. Meanwhile, despite the challenging times, my passion for the work of therapy revived in the freedom of private practice, and I went beyond my former ‘edges.’

I have come to treasure the name EDGES, not as an acronym (because really aren’t there enough of those anyway) but as precisely the right word for how I envision key aspects of the therapeutic process:

-
healing happens on the edges between crisis and change, hope and despair
-
growth happens on the edges between the known and unknown
-
edges are ‘the cracks where the light gets in’
-
the collaborative process of therapy happens on the edges of the connection between the client and the therapist
Services
I offer individual counseling for issues related to trauma, loss, anxiety, depression, and ADHD. I do not offer couples counseling, nor do I accept court-ordered or employer-mandated clients. I want to work with clients who want to do this work – and it’s hard enough even when you’re motivated.

I collaborate with my clients to tailor the counseling process to their individual strengths, needs, and story. Thanks to teletherapy, I see clients throughout this Great Land, as well as Washington (and Arizona is pending).

I use a variety of therapeutic interventions that include: Internal Family Systems, cognitive behavioral therapy, reflective listening, motivational interviewing, mindfulness, art, EMDR, guided imagery, a Jungian orientation on the importance of dreams, parenting strategies, play therapy, problem-solving, role modeling, skill-building, and positive support. Most recently, I have been studying the “tools” developed by Phil Stutz. I encourage anyone interested in learning more about therapy to watch the Netflix documentary Stutz, by Jonah Hill, for a compelling view into the therapeutic process.
You do not need to know precisely what is happening or exactly where it is all going. What you need is to recognize the possibilities and challenges offered by the present moment and to embrace them with courage, faith, and hope.
